Tottenham Hotspur are reported to have been made aware for a number of weeks that Gareth Bale will not return to the club next season.
The 31-year-old moved to North London last summer on a season long loan deal from Real Madrid.
The Athletic claim that Spurs were told a while back that Bale had no intention of continuing his loan stint at the club into the 2021/22 campaign.
Football.London have previously reported that Tottenham had the first option to secure a second loan deal for the Welshman on the same financial terms as last season, which saw them cover 40 per cent of his significant wage packet.
Bale’s relationship with manager Zinedine Zidane was said to have become beyond repair last summer (ESPN).
The Frenchman departed the Santiago Bernabeu following the end of last season with the Spanish giants deciding to bring back former manager Carlo Ancelotti, who Bale previously won the Champions League and Copa del Rey under, scoring in both finals.

It is a sad to think that we did not get to see the best of Gareth Bale least season, and a lot of that blame has to rest at the feet of Jose Mourinho who appeared to be reluctant to play the Welsh international on a regular basis.
He has already shown at the Euros that he is still capable of being a top class player and would have been someone we would have desperately needed, especially if Harry Kane does leave.
