Hulu's Hardy Boys Gets Renewed For Season 2 | Screen Rant
Hulu's The Hardy Boys will soon be back solving mystery's as the show gets renewed for season 2. Based on the beloved novels of the same name written by Edward Stratemeyer, first published in 1927, The Hardy Boys have been updated for a new generation of modern viewers. The first season of the Hulu series first premiered back in December of 2020 with thirteen episodes.
Variety reports that the Hulu series The Hardy Boys was renewed for season 2 and is slated to debut in 2022. Producers for the show, Nelvana and Lambur Productions, have greenlit a second season, which was once again picked up by Hulu. Filming is scheduled to start production later this month in Toronto and Southern Ontario. President of Nelvana, Pam Westman, offered the following statement about the new season:
“It’s no mystery that ‘The Hardy Boys’ has captured audiences of all ages around the world. We are excited to work with Lambur, Hulu and Corus again on a new high-stakes case for the Hardy Boys gang, as they race against the clock to uncover the truth of a mysterious disappearance.”
Since its first publication in 1927, "The Hardy Boys" have been adapted time and time again in various novels and forms of media. The original IP has seen five television adaptations to date, with Nelvana also producing a series back in 1995 that did not last very long. Stratemeyer, under the pen name Franklin W. Dixon, was a prolific writer that produced over 1,300 novels himself, including the popular Nancy Drew series, which has also seen its fair share of adaptations. Stratemeyer's novels have gone on to sell millions of copies worldwide, so it's no wonder why his original IPs are still being adapted to this day.
The second season will once again star Rohan Campbell (as Frank Hardy) and Alexander Elliot (as Joe Hardy), and is reported to pick up after the events of the first season. The synopsis reads: "Frank and Joe must tackle another complex mystery after a local Bridgeport teen vanishes and a menacing corporation moves into town." Returning cast members include Janet Porter, Adam Swain, Keana Lyn, and Atticus Mitchell.
