Report: PL centre-back wanted by Spurs ‘very happy’ at current club
The Athletic have revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Nathan Ake is very happy at Manchester City and is looking forward to a second season with the club.
Ake was said to be on Tottenham’s radar last summer but the club were reportedly put off by Bournemouth’s £40m valuation.
The defender has not had the impact he would have hoped for at City, struggling to make it into Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven for large parts of the campaign.
It has been claimed that City are ready to listen to offers for the 26-year-old, with Guardiola having given the green light for him to leave.
Additionally, City are reportedly eyeing a deal for Harry Kane and the Premier League champions are allegedly open to offering some of their players to Spurs as a makeweight in the deal for the England captain.
That potentially raises the possibility of Ake being used in the swap, particularly given that Tottenham are said to be prioritising strengthening at centre-back this summer.
According to The Athletic, the former Bournemouth man’s camp have suggested that there is no truth to rumours that the player wants to leave City.
Ake is said to really value the work he has done with Guardiola and his coaching staff this season and is ‘very happy’ with the improvements he has made to his game.
The Netherlands international is said to be ‘looking forward to a far more promising second season’ at the Etihad.

Ake could potentially be an excellent acquisition given that he is a left-foot centre-back with Premier League experience. He certainly has the capacity to do what John Stones has done this season and to resurrect his City career. So, this summer could potentially be the ideal time to land him for a relatively low fee.
