LB Steak’s first East Bay restaurant opens in San Ramon
A dozen years after opening its first upscale Silicon Valley steakhouse, the Left Bank/Vine Hospitality restaurant group has expanded to the East Bay.
LB Steak is now open at City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon, with outdoor seating and limited indoor dining and bar seating. The steakhouse is an offshoot of noted chef Roland Passot’s Left Bank Brasseries in Menlo Park, Larkspur and San Jose.
LB Steak caters to the steak lover with a menu of prime Angus cuts aged in-house, A5 Wagyu from Japan’s Hokkaido, Miyazaki and Takamori prefectures and — thanks to the French influence of Passot — a temperature guide that allows customers to order their steak cooked to any one of six levels, from “blue” to “well done” (or in French, quelle horreur).
Signature items on the menu include a 48-ounce Tomahawk Ribeye for two, 50-Day Aged Pork Chop and Maple Glazed Pork Belly and, from the seafood side, Maine Lobster Tail, Lobster Bisque and Whole Branzino.
The menu here and at LB Steak at San Jose’s Santana Row is overseen by Vine Hospitality executive chef Jonah Oakden (formerly of Boulevard and Prospect in San Francisco) and LB Steak chef Roger Rungpha.
The bar features Kentucky, Japanese and High West whisky flights; a “build your own martini” menu (classic, dirty, dry or Gibson, with eight spirits selections); and a global wine library from sommelier Serena Harkey.
Dinner is available nightly. Soon lunch, brunch and happy hour will be added to the San Ramon offerings. Once full capacity is allowed, there will be seating for 186 indoors and 40 outdoors.
Vine also operates the group’s Meso Modern Mediterranean restaurant at Santana Row.
