This Is Us Season 6 Trailer: Cast Reveals Story Details
The stars of This Is Us tease what can be expected from its final season. NBC's hit family drama is wrapping up its run with its sixth year, but despite this, expect a series of plot twists — something that the show has become known for throughout its broadcast.
Its non-linear storytelling made it easier for the show to pull off some of its most consequential narrative points. And just like in the last four years, This Is Us season 5 utilized this to drop an unexpected revelation that will be central to the show's remaining run. During its final moments and on the heels of Kevin and Madison's canceled wedding in the present day, the series jumped a bit forward in time and unveiled Toby and Kate's looming divorce. What made this more surprising is the fact that Number Two is set to remarry her current boss, Phillip. Coming into This Is Us season 6, this will be among the primary points of interest for viewers, but there's more to it than that.
In a new video from Rotten Tomatoes, the cast of This Is Us hypes up what to expect from season 6. While they can't get into plot specifics, everyone assures that audiences will be satisfied and fans' patience for sticking throughout the series will be rewarded. Sterling K. Brown and Susan Kelechi Watson, who play onscreen husband and wife, Randall and Beth, promise it's going to be very emotional. Watch the video below:
The commentary from the cast in the aforementioned video is intercut with scenes from the past seasons of This Is Us and the montage mostly focuses on the Pearson characters. Rightfully so, the series is about the collective life of the family, starting with Jack and Rebecca's introduction and eventual marriage. Due to its unique storytelling format, it's able to connect things that happened in the past to what the Big Three are going through in the present time. Importantly, it allows the show to continue featuring Jack who has died back decades ago. So while the individual arcs of the kids are going to be significant, expect that This Is Us will continue to be the Pearsons' overall journey.
This Is Us season 6 will be anchored, however, by one single narrative — the death of Rebecca. The early seasons of the show focused on Jack's personal story and how it related to the life of his family, but as it inches towards its ending, expect that there will be more focus on the Pearson matriarch. The central flashforward of the series revolves around her death and since she's also confirmed to have dementia, season 6 will deeply explore this subject matter and her memories will be a crucial role in how it will all end.
