Alice Lloyd’s Dalton Cornett Named NCCAA Baseball First-Team All American
GREENVILLE, SC- The NCCAA has just announced its national baseball awards for the 2020-21 season. Alice Lloyd College Eagle catcher Dalton Cornett was selected as an elite NCCAA Men’s First Team All-American. Each squad contained 12 players.
Cornett helped lead his club to a Mideast Regional championship and a berth in the NCCAA National Baseball World Series. On the season, the senior led the nation by batting .466 and had a slugging percentage over .800. He also led nationally with 5 triples. Additionally, he finished sixth in both on-base percentage and doubles. He only struck out 4 times all season.
In addition, freshman pitcher Chase Conley and sophomore shortstop Thomas Mullins were selected NCCAA Men’s Third Team All American.
Conley led the team in innings pitched (62.1), ERA (.287), and strikeouts (43). He did not allow a home run all season. He was also named to the All-Tournament Team during the National Tournament.
Mullins batted .346 and was second on the team in hits, home runs, and steals. His slugging percentage was .471.
Lastly, five players were named NCCAA Scholar-Athletes. To receive this, the individual must be a junior academically and maintain at least a 3.4 cumulative GPA. Those selected were: Luis Carrillo, Dalton Cornett, Colton Cross, Logan Gibbs, and Tanner Pratt.
