American Idol: Why Chayce Beckham's Finale Performances Stood Out
During the American Idol season 19 finale on Sunday, May 23, the fans saw 24-year-old Chayce Beckham from Apple Valley, CA being crowned the new champion. Now that he is the new Idol winner, he won a record deal with Hollywood Records, as well as many other prizes. However, in order to take home the win, Chacye had to put on three more performances at the finale. Here's why his final performances stood out to the viewers at home.
During the American Idol season 19 finale, each of the finalists had to perform three songs: one chosen by the judges, one inspired by their hometown, and a reprise song from earlier in the season. Throughout the season, the fans and judges fell in love with Chayce's personality and his voice, but had never quite seen a side to him like the one they saw on finale night. Throughout the night, Chayce was also joined by other contestants and famous musicians, securing even more love and votes from the viewers at home.
Throughout American Idol, the viewers were taken into how Chayce Beckham's life was prior to the show. The viewers found out that he used to have a heavy drinking addiction and that just two weeks before his audition in front of the judges, he was involved in a near-fatal car accident. After seeing what his car looked like and the hurt he had put his family through, the 24-year-old decided that he wanted to turn his life around. The viewers saw that he really made a change in his life, which also led to many votes for him to stay and eventually win.
During the American Idol season 19 finale, Chayce Beckham's three performances felt like he was telling a story, with all of the song choices being about his life inside and out of the competition. Knowing what he had gone through in life and how he turned his life around to better himself really made viewers empathize with Chayce and crown him as the champion of the show. Just like many of his performances on the show, his final performances received praise from the judges and viewers at home.
With this season of American Idol now over, the fans will have to wait a little while to enjoy Chayce Beckham's debut album. With that being said, American Idol has been picked up for a new season to presumably air around the beginning of 2022, which gives the viewers a new batch of hopeful musicians to vote for.
