Kane admits he has Pochettino dream, as Tottenham star asked about sensational return
Tottenham striker Harry Kane has refused to reveal whether he wants Mauricio Pochettino to return to the dugout as manager.
Spurs are still on the lookout for Jose Mourinho’s replacement after sacking the 58-year-old in April. Several potential candidates have come and gone, including Julian Nagelsmann and Erik ten Hag. However, talk of ex-Tottenham boss Pochettino making a comeback in north London has gained traction.
The Argentine has reportedly told Paris Saint-Germain that he wants to leave and return to Spurs. He has also reportedly held talks with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
In a fresh twist on Tuesday, though, The Telegraph claimed that he has extended his PSG contract by a further year. As a result, he is set to stay in the French capital until 2023.
In any case, the debate over Pochettino’s return is still rife and Kane faced questions on the matter in an interview with the Evening Standard.
Asked about the possibility, though, he said: “No comment.”
Nevertheless, Kane credits Pochettino for helping develop him into the England captain and world-class striker he is today.
As such, the forward wants to see his former coach do well by going one better than 2019’s Champions League final defeat.
“We got so close to winning it with Mauricio,” Kane added. “I would love to see him win it. We had a great relationship. He is a great person, a great friend.
“He was the boss, the leader, the one that set the standards in how we played and how we trained. So friendship would never get in the way of what he did on the football side of things.
“But we became friends in that the things we did and talked about went beyond football.”
Kane opens up on coaching role
Kane’s future is also uncertain and he has reportedly told Tottenham that he wants to leave this summer and sign for another Premier League club.
Further down the line, though, the striker is not ruling out stepping into the dugout himself.
“I am not doing the coaching badges and sitting here now, I would say no, but I would also say never say never,” the 27-year-old said.

For now, though, Kane’s focus is on leading England to a successful Euro 2020 campaign after Gareth Southgate revealed his final 26-man squad on Tuesday.
