Key defender hints at Tottenham exit this summer
Tottenham defender Serge Aurier has revealed that he wants to leave the club this summer having come to the ‘end of a cycle’ in north London.
The Ivorian has generally been Spurs’ first-choice right-back since Kieran Trippier departed two years ago, but is attracting interest from former side PSG, AC Milan and a number of clubs from La Liga, according to the Express, though has hinted his preference would be a return to the French capital.
He was strongly linked away last summer following the arrival of Matt Doherty, but Aurier quickly moved ahead of him in the pecking order and ended up making 27 appearances in all competitions.
However, the 28-year-old, who has just 12 months left on his contract, said that his time at Tottenham might be over, with a move back to PSG on the cards.
He told L’Equipe: “Everyone is aware that if I wanted to extend my deal at Tottenham, I would’ve done so already. I’m not going to do it in six months.
“I’ve reached the end of a cycle and it’ time to look elsewhere. The two parties, Tottenham’s board and my agents, have agreed upon the conditions. We’ll see after that.
“I’ve never hidden by desire to return to PSG one day. It’s the club of my heart, the one that I support and I feel free to speak about it.
“But I don’t want people to think that I’m stuck on them and I’m not closing the door on anyone.
“But if the club were to make an offer this summer, it’s sure that PSG would be my first choice.”
