Yankees Activate 1B Luke Voit From 10-Day IL
The New York Yankees have announced that they’ve activated 1B Luke Voit from the 10-day IL. The five-year veteran missed the start of the season after opting for surgery in March to repair a partially torn meniscus in his left knee.
Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees returned from rehab and reinstated INF Luke Voit (#59) from the 10-day injured list.

Had he tried to play through the pain, he likely would have required repeated cortisone shots in addition to draining the knee throughout the season.
The injury likely occurred early in spring training, but the first baseman tried to play through the pain until it became too much to endure. It became the latest string in injuries for Voit after dealing with plantar fasciitis last season and a core muscle injury in 2019.
With the injury now behind him, Voit wrapped up a brief rehab stint where he hit three home runs in six games with New York’s Triple-A affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He’ll be a welcomed addition to a lineup that has struggled to get production out of the first base position.
New York is currently ranked 24th in OPS (.635) from the first base position. Voit, of course, led all of baseball with 22 home runs last year during the pandemic shortened season.
