Plugging Pokémon Names Into Autocorrect Produces Some Hilarious Results

Autocorrect can be useful for quickly completing a hard-to-spell word, yet on occasion, it can also produce some hilarious spelling suggestions. The debates surrounding Pokémon pronunciation have been ongoing for many years with it peaking with the God Pokémon Arceus. There are several different ways fans pronounce this Pokémon, such as Ar-key-us, Ar-say-us, or Ar-kay-us. There have also been several conflicting sources on what the official pronunciation of the Pokémon's name is, and the debate likely won't stop anytime soon unless Pokémon Legends: Arceus somehow gives an answer. While autocorrect can't resolve questions of pronunciation, it does provide some entertaining takes on their names.
Reddit user Prodigal96 posted a complication of autocorrect suggestions for 20 different Pokémon. Some of them make a little bit of sense, like Sandal and Nerdier, which sound extremely similar to the original names. But then come the more out-there suggestions such as Nicotine, Pessimism, Hippiedom, and Regice being portrayed as Reggie Fils-Aimé. Some of them like Bible and Dropbox are especially hilarious and provide a hilarious new perspective on these Pokémon.
Despite the pronunciation debacles, Pokémon names can be fun to play with. Another artist on Reddit drew Pokémon if their names were taken literally, resulting in some creative creations. Of course, the most common and fun way to twist Pokémon names is to give a unique nickname to their own Pokémon. Players have posted their own hilarious custom-made nicknames for Pokémon in their party for years, and some can be incredibly ironic or just weird. This level of creativity with Pokémon, down to their names, is what has kept the brand alive for so many years.
The Pokémon brand continues to remain a global phenomenon, and the hundreds of creatures have wormed their way into many player's hearts, which is what inspires many of the fan creations that are produced today. The fanbase continues to show that there are many different ways to get creative with these creatures, whether it be the Pokémon designs or names. Autocorrect is just one of the ways fans can use said creativity, with the results shown by using the automated function proving to be hilarious. They also provide new contexts that these Pokémon can be seen under, so the next time Gible comes out into a Pokémon battle, now the image of a Gible holding a bible is now conjured thanks to the flexibility of autocorrect.
