Three policemen were killed a explosive-laden vehicle targeted an outpost in western province of Herat.
The incident happened in the Bazarakarea of Zinda Jan district on Friday evening, and was followed by Taliban attacks on the district from three positions.
According to the local officials, the clashes between Afghan National Defense and Security Forces, and the Taliban continued for few hours.
Reports show that the Taliban also on the same day attacked Kashk-e-Kunha, Kohzor, Gulran, Oba, and Chest districts of Herat province.
It is said that no harm was inflicted to the Afghan government forces during the Taliban attacks in all of the five districts, but in a roadside bomb blast, one civilian was wounded in Herat province, media reported.
This comes as peace efforts are underway, and the attacks by different extremist groups have escalated and intensified.
