ASHLEY Cain has revealed how his brave baby daughter Azaylia is having to take seven syringes of medication in the morning.
The 30-year-old former footballer showed their difficult morning routine, which requires him to feed his terminally ill eight-month-old with a syringe and feeding tube.
Earlier this month, dad Ashley and his partner Safiyya were devastated by the news their daughter only has days left to live after tumours spread through her body.
While the couple have brought little Azaylia home for her final days, they are having to keep her out of extreme pain with a concoction of medicines.
“Azaylia’s 2nd lot of medication this morning 9am,” Ashley wrote, giving his Instagram fans an insight into the intensive medical routines.
He filmed seven syringes, designed for providing nutritional support to patients unable to eat, lined up on his daughters high chair.
Azaylia, who was diagnosed with cancer at just eight weeks old, requires a feeding tube directly into her stomach to provide her with food.
Ashley’s girlfriend Safiyya took to Instagram last night to reveal that even with the medicine, the tot is “struggling to open her eyes” because they are so swollen.
The worried parents sought advice from their community nurse on how to combat the fluid retention as they admitted their daughter was “really, really struggling.”
It came after Safiyya paid sweet tribute to her fighter daughter in a moving Instagram post as she shared artwork supporters had sent her and Ashley.
Earlier this week, Ashley celebrated his brave little girl, saying he is “making every day count” after bringing her home from hospital for the final time.
He told fans that the eight-month-old “keeps surprising” them with her strength to keep going beside a sweet snap of them sleeping side by side.
“Don’t count the days, make the days count,” Ashley began the emotional caption, where he said the pair had been having “lots of snuggles”.
“Truth be told, there’s not so much playtime right now, but we make up for it with naps and lots of snuggles. Pretty much anything that makes her the happiest and most settled.
“We have always been like two pees in a pod and wherever she is I’m not far away. I think that’s where we both feel most comfortable.
“Truly blessed for another day with you baby. Keep surprising us!”
Safiyya and Ashley welcomed Azaylia in August of last year, but were left devastated just eight weeks later when they were told that she has leukaemia.
They have documented much of her fight on their Instagram pages, and told how they hope to make their little girl’s time with them as full of fun, love, and happiness as possible.
Last month, Ashley and Safiyya raised over £1 million to take Azaylia to Singapore in a last-ditch attempt to save her life – but were left devastated when they were told the specialists in the country could not help.
Doctors in the UK then discovered tumours throughout Azaylia’s body, including her brain and spleen.
Ashley and Safiyya received the news earlier this month that they’d run out of options to treat her.
The brave parents have now taken their little girl home from hospital, but still have regular trips back into A&E to keep Azaylia comfortable.
The eight month old has been having blood transfusions after crying blood, and bleeding from her nose.
Safiyya has also revealed purple bruises all over Azaylia’s body as the leukaemia prevents her blood from clotting.
Through her brave fight, Azaylia has won the hearts of the nation, and has been nominated for a Pride of Britain award – with people across the UK also taking to their doorsteps to “Clap for Azaylia” earlier this week.
