Dodger’s Cody Bellinger out with a fractured leg
Cody Bellinger of the Dodgers has a hairline fracture of his fibula, NBC Sports Edge reports. The injury was initially diagnosed as a left calf contusion when he was spiked accidentally, but after undergoing another scan Thursday, the fracture was revealed. Bellinger is already on the injured list, and the Dodgers are still calling him day to day, but he will be out of the lineup much longer than first anticipated.
Bellinger is one of the best players for the World Champions, but this is also a team that is as deep as any in baseball. In Bellinger’s absence, Zach McKinstry has seen considerable playing time and is batting .297 with three home runs and 11 RBI. The Dodgers are also expected to be without A.J. Pollock on Friday when they take on the Padres as he deals with a groin injury.
