According to a report from Spanish publication Sport (as relayed by TEAMtalk), Arsenal could enter the race for rumoured Tottenham target Paulo Dybala.
Dybala, who famously came close to completing a move to Tottenham in the summer of 2019, has endured a tough season, with a ligament injury keeping him out of action since January.
CalcioMercato reported two weeks ago that Spurs could reignite their interest in Dybala in the summer transfer window while The Daily Star revealed a few days ago that Juventus had offered the 27-year-old to Spurs on a free transfer.
Sources from Italy indicate that the former Palermo man is not close to agreeing a new deal with the Old Lady and looks increasingly likely to leave.
However, if Sport is to be believed, Tottenham could face competition from their North London rivals for the Dybala. TransferMarkt claim that the Argentine is currently worth £54m.
The report claims that Mikel Arteta is keen on signing Martin Odegaard on a permanent basis in the summer. However, should Real Madrid decide not to sell the Norwegian, the Gunners are said to view Dybala as an adequate alternative.
Spurs Web Opinion
Dybala could potentially be available relatively cheaply in the summer due to his contract situation but Tottenham’s priority should be strengthening at centre-back, right-back and potentially centre midfield. So, it remains to be seen if the club would deem it necessary to fork out upwards of £40m on a forward.
