DEAR DEIDRE: I SLEPT with my boss – once – to pay off a debt. Now he’s emailed my husband, saying it happened several times and threatening to tell my family.
I’m 35 and my husband is 33. Three years ago, I got behind with catalogue payments. My boss is 44, rich and liked me. I came on to him and we had sex.

I asked him for a loan of £700 and he paid me, saying it was a gift.
Now he’s married to another colleague and they’ve emailed my husband saying I regularly had sex with him, which isn’t true. They want £1,000 or will tell my family what I did.

Insist you will do anything to keep your relationship.
Do all you can to scrape together the £700 but keep the correspondence from colleagues.
Go back to your boss saying the debt will be repaid – but pointing out that blackmail is illegal and if there are any more threats, you will go to the police.
