Most of the Happily Ever After season 6 cast has been revealed, but fans are sick of seeing the same old stars and are demanding less stale couples.
The 90 Day Fiancé franchise keeps growing with new seasons and spin-offs, but not all fans are thrilled with the the network’s decisions. Viewers have been critical of TLC for many reasons. Most recently, it’s the casting choices that have irked fans. Part of the cast for 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Every After? season 6 has been revealed and fans don’t like some of the familiar faces they saw. They are bored by the season 6 cast and have have not hesitated to voice their displeasure of the network’s choices.
A trailer for Happily Ever After? season 6 was unveiled to fans and confirmed Elizabeth Potthast and Andrei Castravet, Tiffany Franco and Ronald Smith, Angela Deem and Michael Ilesami, and Kalani Faagata and Asuelu Pulaa will all be returning. The trailer did not include the entire cast of the spin-off, and the remaining couples will likely be culled from 90 Day Fiancé season 8. Several of the revealed couples have starred in past seasons of Happily Ever After?, and from the sounds of it, fans have gotten sick of them.
Viewers like the show, but they’re critical of the couples who were selected for season 6. “Y'all couldn't find ANY other couples aside from these used up schmucks?!” one fan exclaimed in the comments for the trailer. Many fans felt that they’ve already seen too much of most of the announced couples and think the show has gotten stale because of it. Viewers want to see new couples from the franchise, claiming “a new batch of cast members would be a breath of fresh air.”
For some, the cast announcement did not bode well for the success of the upcoming season, “This will probably be the season with the lowest ratings,” one fan said. But others had a theory why TLC was featuring the same couples, like Elizabeth and Andrei, again. Some think that the couples on season 6 are “dead broke,” so they were the most eager to appear on the franchise again and would also settle for being paid less. But regardless of the reason, fans think the cast is full of the “same people we’ve seen too many seasons too far.”
The message is clear—fans want to see fresh couples featured on Happily Ever After? and are sick of the couples TLC keeps recycling. There are still couples from season 6 that have not been announced, and viewers hope they’re people that haven’t been on the spin-off before. Brandon and Julia and Jovi and Yara were some of the couples that fans would like to see on the upcoming season. And there’s a decent shot that they will be. The remaining season 6 cast may not be announced yet because their story has not wrapped up on 90 Day Fiancé.
TLC is producing a lot of content but currently has a finite number of active couples in the franchise. It’s understandable that the network would reuse the same couples it has successfully worked with in the past, but it is running the risk of having the franchise turn stale. With so many 90 Day Fiancé spin-offs, TLC will need to be extra careful about not overexposing the audience to certain couples. After all, variety is the spice of life—and television.
