A 39 year-old drugs suspect successfully smuggled a tiny revolver into jail on Valentine’s Day by stuffing it inside her vagina, it is alleged.
Amy Wilhite, 39, was caught with the tiny weapon at Boone County Jail in Missouri last month after being arrested on charges including possession of crystal meth, and resisting arrest.
Jail staff searched Wilhite once, but failed to locate the 4.6 ounce North American Arms revolver, which can hold five bullets. The gun also evaded staff who performed a subsequent strip search – and was only discovered 17 days into Wilhite’s stay at the jail.
Sheriff’s deputies were tipped off to the presence of the weapon, and were finally able to locate it during a search of Wilhite’s possessions. She is believed to have removed the weapon from her body and concealed it elsewhere after successfully evading checks while being booked into the jail, The Smoking Gun reported.
Wilhite’s alleged smuggling saw her hit with an extra charge – felony introduction of a weapon to a correctional facility. Investigators have not said whether the weapon, which costs around $250 new, was loaded.
She remains in jail.
