Jose Mourinho reacts to Gareth Bale performance against Burnley
Gareth Bale looked back to his best in a Tottenham shirt this afternoon as the Lilywhites welcomed Burnley to North London.
The Welshman scored within two minutes to put his side ahead, poking home a Heung-min Son cross. Bale then turned provider for Harry Kane, picking out the England captain with a long raking pass before he hammered it home.
In the second half, Bale continued to look dangerous and popped up with his second goal of the match when Son found him in acres on the right-wing. The on-loan Madrid man cut inside and found the bottom corner with ease.
Mourinho decided to take the in-form winger off at around the 70-minute mark, likely to protect him for future games, but he was impressed with Bale’s performance.
The Spurs head coach claimed that no manager in the world would not play Gareth Bale when he is fit, adding that the Welshman no longer looks flat.
He said (Football London): “Gareth is a very experienced boy and he knows his body well. It would be very nice for me to say now that I managed him well but that’s not me.
“I’m really happy for him. There is not one manager in the world who does not play Gareth Bale when fit. Now he’s not flat. He brings things to his action. He played very well and his condition is very good.”
