The Resident Evil series has a long history, with the game and films traveling all across the world. The first game introduced the zombie-ridden Raccoon City, but subsequent enemies have introduced a wide array of different enemies.
Iconic enemies like Mr. X and Nemesis immediately spring to mind, but Resident Evil has had its fair share of uninspired foes as well. The different viruses of Resident Evil have been shown to infect animals as well as humans, like the giant crocodile found in the sewers of Resident Evil 2.
Not all Resident Evil enemies are created equal, and some of the creatures are straight-up lame. Here are the dumbest Resident Evil enemies of all time.
The Ooze are the main enemies of Resident Evil Revelations, infesting the hallways of the Queen Zenobia with their slimy substance. The enemies live up to their name perfectly as they shamble and slop around, but they simply don't live up to the standards of the series at large. The Ooze simply don't feel intimidating, but rather feel incredibly goofy. Stranded on a ship in the middle of the ocean, it just feels like there could have been better creatures to stalk players.
Resident Evil has dealt with tons of infected creatures before, from the dogs introduced in the very first Resident Evil to the giant spiders seen across the series. One of the more ridiculous ideas the series has ever had, however, lies with the zombie elephant from Resident Evil Outbreak. Yes, a giant rampaging elephant is pretty terrifying, but there's some serious suspension of disbelief required on the part of players. A bunch of random civilians going up against a zombie elephant is a little too ridiculous, even for Resident Evil.
Bugs are creepy, sure, but the Novistadors are just a total drag in Resident Evil 4. These goofy giant grasshoppers are a headache to deal with as they buzz around in the air, and if that wasn't enough they can even turn invisible.
There's no arguing that Resident Evil 4 is a fantastic game, but it's surprising how many of the worst enemies in the series come from it. Chief among those is the annoying Ramon Salazar, a villain with a serious Napolean complex, literally and figuratively. Salazar is an annoying little runt with an awful voice until he turns into an utterly grotesque creature and one annoying boss.
Ivy's design in the original Resident Evil 2 is literally just a walking plant with a mouth. It's a stretch by any amount of imagination, but the Resident Evil 2 remake at least makes the enemy a little more aesthetically pleasing by resembling actual zombies. Still, Ivy is an absolute nightmare to deal with as the only good way to kill them is with fire. Resident Evil thrives on its unique and grotesque enemy designs, but Ivy just feels completely uninspired.
A walking suit of armor is an age-old horror trope, even if Resident Evil 4 does have parasites controlling them. The Armadura feel far too generic for a game like Resident Evil 4, and bafflingly you only encounter the enemies at a couple of different moments. The sections with Armadura feel like they could be from an entirely different horror game, and they simply don't match the vibe of Resident Evil 4.
A giant moth is just about the lamest enemy imaginable in a zombie apocalypse. Moths aren't the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about terrifying horror creatures. To make matters even worse, the moths were a failed BOW experiment, leaving the creatures unable to fly properly because of their massive proportions. Sure players can fight the moths, but it's equally easy to just skip them altogether, which says all it needs to about these defective enemies.
