With a Hulk Hogan biopic in the pipeline and Chris Hemsworth set to play him, what other actors should join him and play these real life characters?
At the moment, there aren't many details known about the upcoming biopic about the legendary wrestler, Hulk Hogan. However, it has been confirmed that MCU star Chris Hemsworth will be donning the tights and the iconic mustache to play the Hulkster himself in the lead role.
But with such an incredible career that involved so many big stars in the wrestling world, there are a lot of huge roles that could end up being available. But which people from Hogan's life should actually get included in the biopic, and which actors should Netflix be looking to bring in to play them?
Andre The Giant is an essential part of Hulk Hogan's story, with their iconic WrestleMania III match being one of the biggest in the history of the sport. They were huge rivals as two larger-than-life characters, and there's no doubt that he will be shown within the movie.
Of course, casting Andre himself isn't the easiest situation due to the size of the legendary wrestler. However, Robert Maillet could fill this gap nicely. He is 7ft, so fits the bill in terms of look, but he also happens to be a former wrestler, meaning he could potentially take some bumps in a fight scene and would understand the industry to really connect with the part.
Although Ric Flair himself has expressed an interest in Bradley Cooper one day playing him (which would be a good fit), Zac Efron feels like a perfect option to be Ric Flair. The Nature Boy is someone who should be featured in the biopic, and Efron could pull off the role.
He's put together an incredible library of movies recently, and adding this to the list would be a great fit for him. Zac Efron is someone who can cope with the physical demands, and he certainly has the personality to portray the partying wrestler himself.
Mean Gene Okerlund was a big part of the rise of Hulkamania, with his backstage interviews with Hulk Hogan and the various other wrestlers really helping to drive their characters forward. But not only that, Okerlund and Hogan were good friends out of the wrestling world as well, which is something that should be highlighted.
David Cross is someone who certainly looks similar enough to make him a wise casting. However, he is also someone who could bring warmth and positivity to Okerlund's performance, which is what he was notorious for.
Commentary is an important part of wrestling, and Gorilla Monsoon was certainly seen as the voice of Hulkamania during that period. He is someone that the biopic is going to have to feature unless they simply use Monsoon's actual voice and never show him.
However, that feels like a mistake, and adding him to the movie would be a much smarter option. Bob Odenkirk would be a good fit into this role, being able to bring the over-the-top mannerisms and energy that Monsoon was notorious for.
Roddy Piper was one of the most charismatic wrestlers of his generation, and someone whose career intertwined with Hulk Hogan's plenty of times. He was an unbelievable talent when it came to his abilities on the microphone and that helped to make him one of the best heels in the industry.
He had the looks and the talent and putting them together made him a big star. Sebastian Stan could be the person to take on this role, bringing the right energy and passion to the role. His history in action movies within the MCU would serve him well here and make him a great option.
Linda Claridge is Hulk Hogan's first wife, and she is a character that will absolutely be featured within this biopic at some point. While the focus will no doubt be based around his wrestling career and life on the road, his family will also have to be incorporated to add some emotional value to the movie.
Ali Larter is an incredibly talented actress who would be able to pull the emotional depths needed to play this part. This role is going to be a crucial one within the biopic, and Ali certainly would work in it, being able to look similar, while also having the ability to pull it off.
The Macho Man, Randy Savage is certainly a wrestler that fans should look out for within this biopic. His rivalry with Hulk Hogan was legendary and really helped both of their careers, and showcasing their relationship behind the scenes would be very interesting to most fans.
Nailing this role is important, and Christian Bale is someone who would be an excellent choice. He can physically fulfill the demands, but with this being such an iconic character, an excellent actor would be needed to take on the role, which Bale would definitely be capable of it.
Brutus Beefcake is one wrestler who is a guarantee to be featured within this biopic, as he and Hogan rose to the top of the wrestling world together. Brutus is someone who Hogan knew before he was a star himself, therefore it's clear he is going to be involved in this.
Scott Eastwood is someone who could take on this role, having the physicality to get through any in-ring work needed. Brutus has a great character as well, and showcasing that, as well as his personal life, will be a big part of this biopic.
With the Netflix biopic likely to cover the earlier stages of Hulk Hogan's rise with his initial run in WWE as the perfect hero, Bob Backlund could end up being featured. He was a big part of Hogan's career and was a major rival for him during that time.
Bob's in-ring character was known for being quite eccentric, but showing him behind the scenes is something that would get a lot of interest in this role. Barry Keoghan is a name on the rise in the world of Hollywood, and adding him to this cast would be a great decision.
One person that has to be involved in this biopic is the WWE Chairman himself, Vince McMahon. He had a huge part to play in Hulk Hogan's success, and any biopic about his career that doesn't feature Vince simply wouldn't be accurate.
This is obviously a huge role to take on, and Bryan Cranston could easily be the man to do it. During his time as Walter White, he showcased incredible range, working as someone who is a boss and doesn't take anything but the best from others, knowing how to play the game, which are all similar characteristics to Vince.
