Journalist stabbed to death with hunting knife by jealous husband with ‘mad eyes’ after she demanded divorce

A JOURNALIST was allegedly stabbed to death with a hunting knife by her jealous husband with “mad eyes” after she demanded a divorce from the “tyrant”. 

Zhanna Sheplyankova, 33, was found in her home with ten wounds soon after she demanded a divorce from her spouse Alexey, 37.

Alexey reportedly fled with the couple’s two sons, aged 10 and 13, but later surrendered to police and confessed to the killing.

The Russian, who the victim’s brother had called a “tyrant”, had allegedly threatened to kill his wife after suspecting her of cheating on him on a work trip.

Zhanna, from Ryazan in western Russia, had messaged a friend saying “right after the business trip he took me to the forest”, Russian authorities said.

“He threatened to kill me if I had cheated on him,” one of the messages reportedly read.

She told her friend of how Alexey had looked at her with “mad eyes” and told her that “nobody [would] know” if he killed her. 

The couple had separated in November and Zhanna had demanded a divorce soon after, having been allegedly “terrified” by her husband for some time.

Following this, Alexey allegedly drove to the family home, where he made the children wait in his car while he went inside to stab his estranged wife. 

He then reportedly drove away with his sons.

The local news site at which Zhanna was editor-in-chief reported: “She experienced a lot of humiliation, assault, and more than once was on the verge of death.

“Zhanna never reported this to the police, because  she was terrified of her husband.”

The Russian Investigative Committee said Zhanna’s work was not believed to be behind her horrendous death. 

“The motive for the crime was presumably a family quarrel,” it said.

“The children have been temporarily transferred to their relatives.

“Currently, the detainee is undergoing necessary investigative procedures  aimed at establishing and clarifying all the circumstances of the incident.”

 Her brother Maxim said: “For many years we did not even know what was going on in their family… 

“She was intimidated by her tyrant husband.”
