HOLLY Willoughby got emotional as she praised her “brave” This Morning colleague who broke down in tears over her dad’s death.
Lauren – who works on the show’s production team – described how her 52-year-old paramedic father died from coronavirus despite “never being ill a day in his life”
She told hosts Holly and Phillip Schofield: “On his 52nd birthday we got a call from one of the nurses saying my dad wasn’t doing very well at all and they were really sorry but there was nothing more they would be able to do for him.
“Your body goes into shock at that time. As a family we had stayed so strong until that point but it was so hard knowing that was going to be the last time we saw my dad.”
Lauren started to cry after talking about her dad losing his battle with coronavirus back in May last year.
Holly said: “Are you OK? How are you coping as a family? Because this pandemic is still raging.”
She ended the interview by telling Lauren: “You are so brave. I wouldn’t have been able to have done what you’ve just done.”
Lauren came on This Morning to “make her dad proud” by warning everyone to take the coronavirus threat seriously.
The heartbreaking interview left This Morning viewers in tears.
Strictly star James Jordan said: “What a beautiful heartfelt interview @hollywills@Schofe.
“A wonderful young lady speaking about the loss of her father to coronavirus. She spoke so well, her father would be proud for sure. Had me in tears.”
Presenter Matthew Wright added: “Can’t stop the tears.”
One viewer said: “Lauren was very brave to tell of the heartbreaking time her family have been through since losing her dad to covid.
“Thank you for raising awareness, no one is immune no matter of health and age.”
Another added: “You are so brave Lauren, not many people would be able to speak so clearly when in grief.
“I hope people listen, we’ve witnessed at the weekend someone having a party, it’s tragic they could then be killing an innocent person through their ignorance. Stay strong xx.”
