Report: Spanish striker linked with Spurs is expecting big pay day from next club
According to a report by The Mirror, rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Diego Costa is demanding a salary of more than £250,000-a-week to sign on the dotted line with his next club.
Costa is now a free agent after Atletico Madrid mutually agreed to terminate his contract which was due to run until the end of the season.
Mundo Deportivo previously reported that Tottenham faced competition from the likes of Napoli, Everton and Fenerbahce for the former Chelsea man, while La Razon established Spurs as the favourites for the 32-year-old’s signature.
Calciomercato reported last week that Wolves also were keen on signing the Spanish international, who was also wanted by Saudi Arabian clubs Al-Hilal and Al-Shabab Riyad.
The Mirror now claim that Costa wants his next contract to be worth more than a quarter of a million pounds a week.
While the report does not mention Spurs’ interest, it suggests that the striker’s wage demands have put Wolves out of the running for his signature.

If this report his true, then that almost certainly puts Spurs out of the running for Costa’s signature as well. There is no way the club will pay him anywhere near that amount when we are seemingly hesitating to offer new contracts to Harry Kane and Son Heung-min amidst the financial impact of the pandemic.
