Biden Voter to Be Charged in Flint Water Scandal

Rick Snyder, the former Michigan governor who voted for Joe Biden in 2020, will soon face charges stemming from a recent investigation into the Flint water crises that began on his watch in 2014.

The Associated Press reported on Tuesday:

DETROIT (AP) — Former Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, his health director and other ex-officials have been told they're being charged after a new investigation of the Flint water scandal, which devastated the majority Black city with lead-contaminated water and was blamed for a deadly outbreak of Legionnaires' disease in 2014-15, The Associated Press has learned.

Two people with knowledge of the planned prosecution told the AP on Tuesday that the attorney general's office has informed defense lawyers about indictments in Flint and told them to expect initial court appearances soon. They spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Snyder, a Republican, penned an op-ed in USA Today announcing his intention to vote for Biden and outing himself as a "proud nerd" who was frequently targeted by bullies.

Biden "has shown the desire to heal a deeply divided nation; has demonstrated strong moral character and empathy; and he seems willing to listen to people who have different perspectives from his own," Snyder wrote in September 2020. "I hope you will join me and help others by using Relentless Positive Action to elect Joe Biden as America's next president."

Snyder is not the only Biden voter facing legal trouble in 2021. The president-elect's son, Hunter, is currently being investigated for tax fraud.
