Conor McGregor tipped to KO Dustin Poirier in two rounds as team-mate Dillon Danis says ‘Mac’ is on a ‘different level’

CONOR MCGREGOR will smoke Dustin Poirier in less than two rounds.

That’s according to the former two-division UFC champion’s team-mate Dillon Danis.

McGregor will rematch his old featherweight rival next month in the main event of UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi.

The Irishman won the pair’s first meeting – which took place six years ago at UFC 178 – via a devastating first-round KO.

And Danis reckons the same fate will befall Poirier second time around, despite the immense improvements the former interim lightweight champion has made in recent years.

During a live Twitch stream with the Nelk Boys, Danis said: “It doesn’t last two rounds.”

Danis reckons McGregor is unstoppable in his current frame of mind, saying: “Conor, in the mindset he is in right now, and the way he is, it’s not going to last two rounds.

Conor McGregor is a different level, you don’t understand. That is a different breed of human.

“A lot of people criticise him but that is a different breed of human, he is going to f*** him up, dude.”

McGregor, 32, is hoping to kick start a 2021 season with an impressive victory over Poirier.

And Danis believes there’s currently no one in the stacked lightweight division who can get the better of The Notorious.

He added: “There is no one in the division who can f*** with him.”

McGregor’s head coach, John Kavanagh, is expecting a tough day at the office for Poirier, recently telling the Mac Life: “He’s fighting a different animal than any of those guys.

“Somebody with true one-punch knockout power that he’s already felt.

“I think you could spend a lifetime talking to sports psychologists and talking to this person or that person, that’s not going to be erased from his mind.”

McGregor vs Poirier II could end up being for the undisputed lightweight title, which, despite Khabib Nurmagomedov’s recent retirement, isn’t vacant.

Nurmagomedov, who hung up his gloves after his submission victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, is expecting the winner of the bout to fight for the belt.

He told MatchTV: “The winner of Poirier-McGregor should fight for the title. But I don’t know who their opponent will be.”
