JUST ANOTHER DAY FENDING OFF LIES…AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
A recent article made some very false and disingenuous allegations and innuendo regarding myself and Executive Outcomes.
It seems padding stories with lies and falsehoods has become part of the DNA of journalists/observers and writers—especially those who write about Mozambique, and Africa in general. With blood boiling, I immediately wrote a comment to the writer’s story. It was not a bad story, but his lies, deception and innuendo certainly set my temperature rising and degraded his entire article. He chose not to post my comment and instead, wrote to me. In his defence, he asked if I could “suggest a better way of writing” what he had written.
There is no ‘better way’ to rewrite a lie so that it appears as the truth—I said as much. To his credit, the writer changed the story and republished it—sadly before my lawyers got to read the original piece. But for that reason, I am not naming him as there was some attempt at damage control.
Let me again state that myself/Executive Outcomes have no wish or desire to enter Mozambique. There are many reasons for this and those who read my latest book ought to know why. I am also not prepared or willing to go and fix the mess someone else has made and is making. The media lies that EO/myself are looking at a contract in Mozambique, or the allegations, innuendo and rumour-mill stories concerning a future deployment there, are all based on lies. Perhaps these writers would do better to focus on their own lives instead of mine and that of Executive Outcomes.
And with that, I conclude my rant.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2021. To those who do not celebrate Christmas, I wish you a blessed and peaceful time with your families and friends. May 2021 be kinder to us than 2020 was. Until next time…
THE REBIRTH OF EXECUTIVE OUTCOMES (THIS IS NEITHER A PRESS RELEASE NOR A RECRUITMENT DRIVE) by Eeben Barlow
When I made it public that I had relinquished the chairmanship of a previous company, it didn’t take long for some African governments to ask me to reactivate Executive Outcomes (EO). They had, I was told, discovered they had been purposely misled about EO and now understand the aims of stopping the company was to ensure that conflicts and wars dragged on.
The closure of the company also led to an expansion of nefarious foreign influences and interests across Africa, as well as some NGOs increasing their collusion with rebel forces—along with espionage operations, and anti-government propaganda campaigns. Reactivating a company that faced the anger and wrath of the intelligence services, the media, and non-African governments for assisting under-threat African and other governments defeat armed uprisings and putting a stop to drug and human trafficking, resource smuggling and terrorism took some consideration.
Warnings of actions and intentions issued many years ago were frequently met with derision while at the same time alluding that Executive Outcomes was created by either the CIA, MI6, the KGB, and goodness knows who else. It was very interesting to note in whose secret pay the originators of these lies were—and some still are. Sadly, some of these agents of influence and liars still inhabit the intelligence and media spaces…still lying, misrepresenting facts, distorting reality, and applying deception as part of their daily duties.
Part of their desperate and driven narrative at the time was the inclusion of blatant lies such as ‘a force for neo-colonialism’, ‘paid in resources’ and such. The company will now make it part of its mission to expose those media and intelligence whores that thrive on lying for secret payments. Likewise, we will investigate—and expose—those so-called academics and scholars that create fiction and publish deception to establish their position in academia. Executive Outcomes will, once again, assist African and other governments with the development of strategies (including campaign strategies), and provide advice, training and mentoring to those governments that request it.
However, the company will not work in South Africa. This decision was taken as a result of the public outcry in the country when EO successfully assisted in countering domestic crime as well as crime on the Lesotho border. The company will not subject itself to such intelligence, law enforcement and media hypocrisy a second time. Strategic partnerships have already been put in place with two companies that have a likewise reputation for adding value to governments, and I look forward to helping them establish themselves in Africa.
Executive Outcomes will once again provide successful African solutions—by Africans—to African problems, regardless of the false attacks that will no doubt again be launched against the company. But the truth cannot be hidden or concealed forever. Please note the company is NOT recruiting people.
