Pedro and Chantel Jimeno are the stars of the TLC spin-off series, The Family Chantel. Here are some reasons why fans think their marriage is toxic.
Pedro Jimeno and Chantel Everett have shared the drama surrounding their marriage on their hit reality show, The Family Chantel. The show is now in its second season, and fans are convinced that the couple (and their families) are way too toxic for each other.
The couple first appeared on 90 Day Fiancé season four, where Chantel lied to her father by telling him that Pedro came to the States from his native Dominican Republic on a student visa. When she finally told them the truth about her plans to get married to Pedro before his K-1 visa expired, they were blindsided. As a result, Chantel's mom Karen and her father Thomas began to express their suspicions about Pedro Jimeno's intentions. Karen went as far as to hire a private investigator to spy on her son-in-law. To make matters worse, Pedro's sister Nicole can't stand Chantel and stops at nothing when it comes to letting her know that. After calling Chantel "a fu*king bi*ch" on her wedding day, Nicole tried to hook her married brother up with her scandalous friend, Coraima. The messy encounter led to a catfight between the in-laws. Drinks were thrown.
If that wasn't bad enough, Pedro got into a table-tossing fistfight with Chantel's younger brother, River. The melée got so out of control that producers had to step in to break it up. At the time, Pedro's mother Lidia expressed doubts about Pedro living with the Everetts. Outside of the drama between Pedro and Chantel's feuding families, Chantel's sister Winter Everett had her own relationship drama. In The Family Chantel season one, the family was shocked to learn that Winter's boyfriend Jah had a nine-year-old child that he was keeping a secret. As a result, Winter left Jah and moved back in with her family. During The Family Chantel season two, she began to express frustration with her family (especially sister Chantel.) The two sisters ended up having a verbal spat during the family's holiday photoshoot. Winter stormed out while calling her sister "a fu*king bi*ch."
Winter also opened up about her weight loss struggles and how being compared to herself as a child fueled her insecurity issues. The show follows the sisters as they work to rebuild the bond they had when they were younger. Meanwhile, Pedro and Chantel's siblings are embarking on new relationships that come with drama. Pedro's sister Nicole is in love with her boyfriend, Alejandro. Much like Pedro, Nicole has decided to date someone living in America. However, the downfall of their relationship is the fact that Alejandro is still legally married to another woman. Pedro doesn't support the relationship, and either does Nicole's best friend, Coraima.
On the other side of the family, Chantel's older brother Royal returned to Atlanta to introduce the family to his new wife, Angenette. Like Chantel and Pedro, Royal and Angenette got married on a K-1 visa. Upon arriving in America, Angenette suffered a miscarriage. Instead of being supportive to his wife, he let her know he had been having doubts about whether he was the father. Chantel revealed all the things Royal said about Angenette, which displayed his lack of trust in her. Things came to a head during the family's trip to the Philippines for the couple's second wedding. After Chantel revealed claims Royal made against his wife, Angenette confronted him in front of her friends and his family. Things became so heated that Royal decided to step out to get away from the cameras. Once cameras started following him, Royal from The Family Chantel became upset. He went after the producers.
That dramatic encounter was one of many for The Family Chantel. It was another example of why fans think Pedro and Chantel's marriage is too toxic for TV.
