An elephant which fell into a deep well at a village in eastern India was saved after five hours of rescue operations on December 23.
The incident took place in Ukrimari village, Jharkhand, after the elephant was believed to have lost its way and fallen into the well the night before.
Forest officials in coordination with local police dug the area around the well edge to make a ramp for the elephant to climb out.
As soon as the way was clear the elephant put its efforts into standing up and walked out to freedom.
