Jupiter and Saturn were spotted on Tuesday, December 22, over the summit of Kilauea volcano in Hawaii. The ‘great conjunction’ was captured by a member of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park team above the Halemaʻumaʻu crater, with smoke and steam also seen rising from its lava lake. December 21 and 22 marked the closest positioning of the two planets in nearly 400 years, according to NASA. Credit: Hawaii Volcanoes NPS via Storyful
