Missing adults found at Dublin middle school; one dead, one hospitalized
DUBLIN — Two missing adults were found at a middle school campus, with one pronounced dead at the scene and another taken to a hospital for treatment, authorities said Wednesday.
In a statement, police said they received a call around 7 a.m. about two people who had not returned home after carrying out janitorial work at Fallon Middle School, 3601 Kohnen Way.
Officers arriving at the school found an associated vehicle parked behind the school, and found the two inside the school’s library after a campus search.
When officers realized the two were suffering from medical issues, they provided medical care alongside paramedics and Alameda County Fire Department firefighters, and brought the two outside into a campus courtyard.
One person, identified only as a 32-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 29-year-old woman was taken to a hospital for medical treatment, police said. The woman’s condition was not immediately available Wednesday night. The two were later determined to be the missing people sought earlier.
As officers responded to the site, others noticed a chemical smell and called the fire department’s hazardous-materials team, who investigated and found no obvious chemical presence.
Police were not releasing the victims’ names, and said they did not know what led to their medical issues or the man’s death.
