Griffiths started and scored in Celtic’s 2-0 win over Ross County on Wednesday night in a Scottish Premiership clash.
The 30-year-old striker has been keen to play more football, but Wednesday night was his first start in a league game this season and he proved his worth.
Lennon was happy with the performance Griffiths put on Wednesday night but he insisted that he could have scored more goals had he been a bit sharper.
The Celtic manager believes the more minutes the striker plays in the coming weeks the better he will look due to his improved levels of fitness.
Lennon told BBC Sportsound: “Griff [Leigh Griffiths] is never short of confidence.
“It’s a good 80 minutes into his legs and he could have had a hat-trick.
“He needs to get sharper and he’ll say ‘well, you need to play me’.
“I think the more he plays and stays fit he’ll be an asset for us going forward.”
Griffiths has made just eight appearances in the current season and has managed to find the back of the net four times.
It remains to be seen whether he plays more as Celtic enter a busy festive period of fixtures, which includes a Glasgow derby against Rangers next month.
