Hagi made his first league start for Rangers at McDiarmid Park since October and made a big impact as the Gers won 3-0 on the road and maintained their 16-point lead at the top of the league table.
The Romanian played a big part in Roofe’s goal in the first half and got one for himself just after the break to put in a solid performance for the Glasgow giants.
Roofe was happy for his team-mate and conceded that he had been waiting to get an opportunity to start in the league for a while.
He stressed that Hagi has been proving himself in training and whenever he has been coming on from the bench, and it was pleasing to see that he produced the goods from the starting eleven as well.
Roofe said on Rangers TV: “He has been waiting a long time for a start again.
“In training, he has been showing it, and when he comes on in games he has been showing it.
“Today, he really did show it.
“He got an assist and got a goal and it was a great performance.”
It remains to be seen whether Hagi gets another chance from the start when Rangers host Hibernian at Ibrox on Boxing Day.
