The Gers crashed out of the Scottish League Cup last week when St. Mirren pulled off a shock and beat them 3-2 to end their hopes in one of the cup competitions.
Rangers bounced back with a win over Motherwell at the weekend and earned three more points on Wednesday night as they beat St. Johnstone in the league away from home.
Roofe insisted that Rangers are not looking too far ahead at the moment, but stressed that the St. Mirren defeat did hurt the team and they are using it as motivation to keep going in the league.
The striker told Rangers TV: “We are taking it game by game and we needed the three points here.
“It also stems from the St. Mirren defeat, it still hurts us and it has given us the extra boost to keep pushing.”
The summer transfer window arrival is looking forward to the Boxing Day game against Hibernian and insisted that the preparations for the game will be normal despite it being just after Christmas.
“[We just need to] prepare right as if it’s not Christmas and it’s a normal day.
“And we go again on Boxing Day, simple as that and there is not too much to think about.”
Rangers have a training session scheduled for Christmas night ahead of the Hibs game at Ibrox, as they look to continue to close in on the Scottish Premiership title.
