Dr. Slaoui: Expect a surge in cases over holiday season

The head of Operation Warp Speed warned the current surge in coronavirus cases is going to get worse over the holiday season.
In an interview on Sunday, Dr. Moncef Slaoui said he expects the nation to see a surge in cases over the holidays, due in large part to Christmas gatherings.

Dr. Slaoui pointed to holiday travel and Thanksgiving gatherings as the reasons for the current surge.
“So, unfortunately, it will get worse, because we are still experiencing the outcome of the Thanksgiving holidays, and the gatherings,” Dr. Slaoui noted. “And unfortunately, there might be more with the Christmas gatherings, so there will be a continuing surge.”
Despite the grim warnings for the upcoming weeks, Dr. Slaoui added there is a ”light at the end of the tunnel” for the nation due to the mass distribution of multiple vaccines.
