Cheeky fan art for The Boys reminds people to leave out milk on Christmas not for Santa, but for Homelander. Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's satiric comic book series jumped into the mainstream last year when Amazon Prime adapted it into a television show and quickly turned it into a bona fide hit. This year, The Boys season 2 took the success to a whole new level, as its weekly rollout helped turn it into one of the biggest shows of 2020. Even former President Barack Obama put The Boys on his annual favorite TV shows list. As a gritty look at the dark side of superheroes, The Boys proved to be a scarily relevant piece of media this year.
Leading that terrifying connection to real life events is Antony Starr's Homelander, the Superman-esque hero at the head of the Seven. Fans already knew Homelander was someone to fear during season 1, but The Boys season 2 took him to an entirely different level. Over the course of eight episodes, Homelander falls in love with a Nazi (Aya Cash's Stomfront), pushes his son off the roof, and comes under fire for accidentally killing an innocent bystander during a mission. To top it all off, his disturbing love for milk (particularly breastmilk) continued to play a part in the season.
It's that scary habit that gets the spotlight in this fan art from Bosslogic. With Christmas arriving in just a few days, those who celebrate will be preparing for Santa's arrival by setting out milk and cookies. However, there just might be someone who loves milk more than the jolly man: Homelander. Perhaps it's time to start putting out milk for the sadistic supe. You can see the art down below.
The Boys season 2 ended with Homelander in a rather precarious place, having just lost miserably to Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), and the others. Homelander's last scene in the season is an unsettling look at a man who has hit rock bottom, yet doesn't want to acknowledge it. Undoubtedly, Homelander will go into The Boys season 3 as a very dangerous man. Butcher and his Boys should be concerned.
Right now, though, The Boys season 3 is still quite a ways off. Filming is expected to begin in early 2021, meaning fans might not see new episodes until much later in the year, if not in 2022. That's a long time until Homelander's next moves are revealed, so fans will sadly have to be patient. Perhaps this Christmas, they can sit back with some milk of their own and imagine what Homelander will do next season.
