Bachelorette: Joe Park Got The COVID-19 Vaccine & Is Educating Others
Joe Park is the first contestant from this season of The Bachelorette to have been vaccinated. He's taking the opportunity to use his platform to educate others.
There is not much to dislike about Doctor Joe. While he didn't get a ton of airtime on Clare Crawley and Tayshia Adams' season of The Bachelorette, he earned the admiration of fans. Some are even calling on him to be the first Asian-American Bachelor. While Joe failed to secure a one-on-one, he was kept around for a little while by both leads, who likely enjoyed being around him more than the other contestants they didn't form a deep connection with. Going on The Bachelorette was only part of what has made this year an eventful one for Dr. Joe. As Tayshia Adams sees the light at the end of the tunnel of her journey on The Bachelorette, with Brendan Morais, Ivan Hall and Zac Clark all still vying for her heart, Joe is doing his part to ensure the end is also near for the pandemic.
In a video on his Instagram titled "COVID Vaccine: What You Need To Know," Joe spent more than seven minutes breaking down everything we need to know about the vaccine. There are many out there, including some in Bachelor Nation, who may be skeptical of taking a vaccine. However, the more people who take it once it is offered to them, the sooner we can resume normal life. Joe addresses in his video that the vaccine is, in fact, safe.
Dr. Joe explains to his nearly 50,000 Instagram followers how mRNA vaccines work. He also disspells myths about vaccines, of which there are many. As we have seen with this past election cycle, misinformation is rampant on the Internet and can have detrimental effects on our public health. While what Joe is doing may seem small, it is likely he reached at least one person and changed their mind about taking a vaccine. If that's the case, then what he did was worth it.
In past years, it has been rare for Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants to speak out about issues facing our society. This year has changed much of that. Dr. Joe, an anesthesiologist, was cast at the perfect time. Even though he didn't capture the heart of Tayshia (or Clare) the addition of someone to Bachelor Nation working hard in the medical industry when trust in frontline healthcare workers is very important is a great thing.
