WandaVision Trailer Reveals New Footage From Multiple Time Periods
A new TV spot for WandaVision offers new scenes from the show's different time periods. Officially kicking off MCU's Phase 4 is the upcoming Disney+ series, which will reunite star-crossed lovers played by Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany post-Avengers: Endgame.
Officially announced during San Diego Comic-Con 2019, WandaVision is arguably one of the more unique projects in Marvel Studios' confirmed slate. It mines storytelling inspiration from classic sitcoms from past decades with the premiere even filmed before a live studio audience. Aside from Wanda and Vision, the Disney+ exclusive will also mark the return of familiar MCU characters such as Kat Dennings' Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris' grown-up Monica Rambeau, and Randall Park's Agent Jimmy Woo. Meanwhile, Katherine Hahn's first foray into the MCU is as a character known only as Agnes. Based on what's been seen from the show thus far, WandaVision appears to be trippy and fun — that's until the titular heroes realize that there's something wrong with their seemingly perfect.
With less than a month before the Marvel Studios project drops on Disney+, marketing is fully ramping up. Following the release of a proper trailer at the recently-concluded Disney Investor Day and a countdown teaser, a fresh WandaVision TV spot (via @haileebishop) was rolled out which features a mix of new and previously-seen footage. The TV spot primarily highlights the character's evolved life over the decades. Check out the clip below:
Some of the most exciting scenes from the latest WandaVision teaser features the heroes in the '70s. As indicated by The Brady Bunch-inspired aesthetic, there's a new look at the part goofing around their house. This era will see Wanda pregnant as seen in both this new clip and previously-released marketing materials for the show, but interestingly, it doesn't seem like it will take long for her to carry their twins. One of the new snippets included in this spot features the couple lovingly watching TV while holding each of their kids who are believed to be Billy and Tommy Maximoff from the comics. The abnormal passage of time is another clear indication that their world isn't MCU's reality. What's curious now is if the Maximoff twins will find their way to the primary franchise universe or disappear once this made-up life crumbles around the couple.
Fortunately, fans won't have to wait that long to find out, with WandaVision slated to release on January 15, 2021. However, before it premieres, its headlining heroes' arcs thus far in the MCU will be recapped in a new series called Marvel Studios: Legends. This is an excellent refresher considering that the franchise is coming off its most prolonged hiatus since debuting in 2008. Aside from that, it's also a useful resource material for those who want to board the MCU train but don't have the time to catch up on the Infinity Saga.
