WWE legend John Cena has issued a stark – yet grim – warning the latest Suicide Squad superhero movie will make viewers “s**t their pants.”
The American wrestler, 43, candidly issued his gross spoiler after taking on the new role of Peacemaker in James Gunn’s film.
The Warner Bros Pictures movie is the second of its kind in recent times centred on the DC Comic’s anti-hero team.
At a recent ComicCon round table, the sports star advised the latest Suicide Squad scenes – which see the cast head to dismantle a Nazi-era laboratory in South America – are “quite graphic.”
He revealed: “The Suicide Squad is gonna make you s**t your pants, so bring a change of pants.”
John then teased viewers are “not ready” for what’s to come in the follow-up, which is neither a re-boot or sequel to the 2016 flick starring Margot Robbie.
It will be the 10th film in the DC Extended Universe and centre on a new Task Force X, which includes show stalwarts such as Margot along with new actors such as Idris Elba.
Previously, Guardians of the Galaxy film-maker James has also dropped huge hints of the violence to come in what is generally considered the darker, stranger cousin to some of the other films in the DC universe, including Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.
In a previous interview he stated: “No character was protected by DC.
“They gave me carte blanche to do what I wanted.
“That was one of the things we agreed to before I came to work for them.
“I wasn’t looking for shock value but I wanted the audience to know anything could happen.”
Meanwhile, reaction to the original Suicide Squad wasn’t entirely positive, with many expressing their disappointment at both the way Margot Robbie’s character Harley Quinn was portrayed and the minor appearance of Jared Leto’s The Joker.
When Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Jeff Bewkes was questioned on the topic in a shareholders meeting, it was hard for him to shy away from.
According to Variety, he admitted, “We think there’s a little room for improvement. We can do a little better on the creative.
“The DC Comics characters have a little more lightness in them than maybe what you saw in those movies, so we’re thinking about that.”
The latest Suicide Squad is set for US cinema release on August 6, 2021.
It will also stream digitally on HBO Max for a month from the release date.
