Since the title's announcement this summer, developer Insomniac Games has shared information piecemeal. Apart from its stated PS5 launch window release, details on when the dimension-hopping adventure will arrive digitally and at retail remains under wraps.
After a lengthy period of rumors and speculation, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart received an official announcement at Sony's PS5 reveal event in June. The game's unveiling counted among one of the showcase's highlights, leaving many to wonder whether it would serve as a PS5 launch title. Before long, though, Insomniac confirmed the franchise's next entry would arrive sometime during the new console's launch window, suggesting a possible early 2021 due date. Meanwhile, a recent PlayStation ad teased an "anticipated" rollout for Rift Apart in the first half of next year.

An early 2021 due date for Ratchet & Clank's next outing is looking more and more likely now.
As always, such speculation should be taken with a healthy grain of salt, especially since Insomniac Games and Sony remain silent on the matter. But if the upcoming Ratchet & Clank installment is indeed still on track for the PS5's launch window, it's bound to represent a boon for Sony's new hardware.
The crew at Insomniac has evidently been incredibly busy of late. In addition to working on Ratchet & Clank's next adventure, the team developed Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales for PS4 and PS5. Arguably counting as the PS5's foremost launch title, the Miles Morales-starring project had a lot of weight on its shoulders. The favorable reception from critics and players alike implies it delivered in spades. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart may have even higher expectations once it hits stores, however. After all, this particular project will soon join the Demon's Souls remake from Bluepoint Games as one of the only true next-gen exclusives on PlayStation 5.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart presently lacks a firm street date, but is expected to launch in the first half of 2021.
