SAVVY mums say Morrison’s is the unsung hero of bargain food, with people going mad for the supermarket’s yellow sticker reduced items.
Yes that’s right, Aldi has been knocked off the top spot as mums’ favourite supermarket by Morrisons according to the Facebook group Yellow Sticker Family Cooking Community.
Eagle-eyed shoppers who keep a close watch on the chain’s reduced items are able to nab an entire week’s shopping for just pennies
Taking to Facebook, one mum shared snaps of her impressive cut-price food shop, including a steak reduced from £7.30 to 37p, chicken skewers marked down from £1.75 to 9p and chicken fillets for 16p.
That’s not all – she also came across a huge number of other meat items perfect for chucking in the freezer to be eaten later in the week.
She wrote: “Morrison’s is the real deal for yellow stickers!! 5pm! £7.38 fillet steak for 37p. Total shop original price £67.78. Yellow sticker price £3.76!”
She’s not the only one finding unbelievable bargains in the aisles of Morrisons.
As we told you previously, a thrifty mum-of-three swears by the supermarket after bagging a £30 shop for just £3 thanks to the shop’s ultra cheap “Magic Box”.
25-year-old Alice Griffith explained how she was able to feed her family for a week using the service – which offers shoppers discounted food which is past the “best before” date but is still fine to eat.
Alice explained how she received a chicken pie, two microwave carbonaras, mushrooms, cheesy chicken breasts, bacon, cook in the bag chicken, lettuce, a microwave mash, vegetable medley, sausages and a microwave fish and chips in one box.
A fellow savvy money saving mum said she also picked up a food shop for just a few pounds in Morrisons.
The savvy mum shared her money-saving hack to Facebook group Money Saving Hints, Tips and Ideas, alongside a snap of her haul.
She showed her counters piled high with mountains of food – all with a yellow sticker.
She said: “Saw a post a while back, not sure if it was on here. I downloaded the Too Good To Go app because of it and got all this for £3.09 originally worth just over £65 from Morrisons.”
Another mum said she was pleasantly surprised the unmissable yellow sticker deals in the cut-price supermarket, which slashed her food bill from £60 down to £30.
Lots of people swear by the Too Good To Go App, which is free to download on Apple or Google and allows you to purchase unsold food from top eateries at the end of service.
The app explains: “Every day, delicious, fresh food goes to waste at cafes, restaurants, hotels, shops and supermarkets – just because it hasn’t sold in time.
“Too Good To Go lets you find and rescue this food so it gets eaten instead of thrown away.
“You won’t know exactly what’s in your order until you pick it up – it’s all part of the surprise.”
Others say they go in store and browse the aisles for Morrisons yellow sticker items, which show outrageous reductions with items priced at less than 10p.
