Oleg Pendzin, an economist and executive director of the Economic Discussion Club, believes that the Ukrainian authorities can begin negotiations with the IMF in the spring of 2021.
“When we talk about the current state of our cooperation (with the IMF – approx.), firstly, I think it is likely that there will be no talk about the next tranche. Probably there will be talk about the next program. Because we have overdue all the deadlines for receiving the second and third tranches. I think that negotiations on a new program will probably begin in the spring. When Ukraine fulfills the requirements”, – Pendzin said.
In his opinion, the absence of an IMF mission in Ukraine is an extremely negative sign of the state of cooperation at the present time.
