Moment TV star Anderson Cooper accidentally called Twitter ‘clitter’
One of CNN’s top television stars raised eyebrows after accidentally mispronouncing Twitter as ‘clitter.’ Anderson Cooper made the verbal gaffe while discussing ongoing election counts on Wednesday afternoon.
Discussing President Trump’s attempt to prematurely declare himself winner of the election, Cooper said: ‘(Trump was) essentially saying that, declaring victory, claiming that fraud was being committed and making false statements on clitter, on, on, excuse me – on Twitter.’
Cooper’s slip of the tongue was soon widely shared on the very social-media site he had mispronounced.
Many politics watchers shared their gratitude towards the TV star for lightening the tense election counts, which are likely to drag on until Friday, meaning the winner of the contest may not be declared for another two days.
The Associated Press currently has Joe Biden on course to win re-election, with 238 electoral college votes. President Trump has 213, with whoever wins 270 or more votes ultimately being declared the winner of the contest.
Biden has maintained a very narrow lead in the key swing states of Michigan and Wisconsin, while Trump is ahead in North Carolina and Georgia, with final tallies for all four states expected sometime Thursday.
Pennsylvania – which awards 20 electoral college votes – has warned it may not name the winner of its race until Friday, amid a scramble to count an increased number of mail-in votes caused by the coronavirus outbreak.
On Wednesday morning, Trump falsely declared that he had won the presidential election at a press conference, and was censored on Twitter for making the same claim.
He later announced plans to demand a recount in Wisconsin – a state CNN has now predicted Joe Biden to win.
