AFTER going through a break up, it’s only natural to want to splash pictures of you living your best life all over social media for the world to see.
And even though she’s an A-List celebrity, that doesn’t mean Adele is any different.
The Chasing Pavements songstress split from her husband of five years Simon Konecki in 2019.
And since then, the previously VERY private star has teased fans with numerous sultry posts showing off her incredible seven stone weight loss.
Here body language expert Judi James tells Fabulous Digital how Adele’s “bounce back” poses reveal the star has emerged from her divorce in “fighting mode” and is “super-keen to display herself as a much happier, sociable, fun-loving woman”.
Earlier this week, Adele shared a gushing tribute to pal Nicole Ritchie with a series of never-before-seen photos of the pair.
When Adele shot to fame in 2008, Judi says the singer would often use “barrier gestures” and “closed lip smiles” which revealed she was uncomfortable in front of the camera and hinted at a “desire to hide”.
But the Adele we see on Instagram couldn’t be any further from this.
Judi said: “This is a fun, sociable A-list pose with many of Adele’s previous signals of wariness and a lack of confidence gone. She’s showing a kind of girlish friendship here, as though life has become one long hen party.
“Her emphasis on sociability and friendships suggests she’s keen to show she’s got back-up and support and – most of all – some people to laugh with.
Commenting on Adele’s super glam photo with Nicole, she added: “Here her smile is wide and emphatic, with crinkling around the eyes and an open mouth suggesting high levels of fun and enjoyment.
“By baring her shoulders and sweeping her hair up she draws attention to her face here and looks more than happy to relax and enjoy herself in front of the cameras.”
What’s more, Judi says Adele was clearly enjoying her newly single status when she was pictured at Drake’s birthday party last October.
She said: “With a splayed hand on Drake’s shoulder, she epitomises a glamorous, fun, party version of herself.
“This fun and flirty look places Adele in charge of the action, placing one splayed hand on Drake’s shoulder as she adopts another Vogue-style pose for the camera.
“In the headshot Adele even performs a super-cool, Vogue-style, pouting profile that makes a feature of the entire length of her slender chin. It’s a sign of playful confidence and a world away from some of the more evasive-looking poses from the years before.”
Back in May, the Skyfall singer could have easily be confused for a Bond Girl as she celebrated her 32nd birthday with her girl gang.
Dressed in a black mini dress and knee-high boots, Judi says Adele was purposely drawing on the fashion of the 60s to introduce the “gorgeous ‘performer’ version of herself”.
Dubbing it the “Bounce Back”, Judi said: “The sexuality of this pose is obvious, although it’s done in a fun way.
“Adele is right at the front of the pose here and holding the camera with her eyes in a way that suggests high levels of confidence. One arm is raised up in a pit-baring gesture that adds to the look of confidence, while the hand on the hip suggests an assertive and even challenging approach.
“Instead of using barrier gestures, Adele is now stretching and posing to show off her body in this pose.”
Earlier this year, Adele effectively “broke the internet” with this super glamorous photo from her birthday celebrations which showed off her incredible legs.
Judi said: “Adele now looks as though she’s having some good, girlish fun here, with that wide-open-mouthed smile and some more active, spontaneous body language.
“Compare the palms-out, splayed fingers gesture to the closed fingers, arms-at-her-sides look of earlier years and she really does look as though she’s activated her more extrovert side.”
However, Judi says the position of Adele’s feet hint that she may still find it daunting being in front of the camera.
She continued: “The only sign of the old Adele are those feet.
“It’s not a total ankle-lock ritual here, but the way one foot points inwards suggests there’s still some sense of shyness or vulnerability going on.”
Despite pouring her heart into her music, Adele has always tried to keep some things in her life private – but recently, the star has been happy to give fans a look into her home.
“When she’s not performing more sexual poses, Adele looks keen to show herself bare-faced and natural, often just chilling and playing at home,” Judi said. “This unmasked version of Adele suggests heightened confidence as though she now gets the fact that she is attractive and loveable without her performer styling.
“Bare-faced and in a super-flexible pose as she kneels in front of her fireplace, Adele emerges with a super, camera-friendly grin that suggests raised levels of confidence. She might be off the red carpet here but her fun, extravagant pose shows a new attitude to the camera.”
