RHOP: Ashley & Michael Darby's Open Marriage Explained
Ashley Darby has admitted that she and Michael had an open relationship on The Real Housewives of Potomac. But what does that mean and what were the rules?
The Australian businessman has not been able to keep his hands to himself. Originally, charges were brought against him by a Bravo cameraman for having grabbed and groped him. While only audio footage was caught of the incident the charges were eventually dropped. But the new season has shown that Michael may be up to his old ways.
Ashley and Michael had a frank conversation after yet another incident with a stripper emerged. The mother of one learned that her husband had been escorted by a stripper back to his room while on a guy’s weekend at the MGM. She wanted to get to the bottom of the gossip to know what exactly happened.
An open relationship is usually defined as an intimate relationship that is sexually non-monogamous. It became clear that the couple had an understanding where one or both of them could find a lover for the night and it would be okay. During their calm dinner, the couple opened up about how they had an open relationship in the past. Ashley explained that while at a David Guetta concert she had found another woman attractive. One thing led to another and the couple ended up having a threesome. The conversation became emotional as Ashely laid down the law. Michael at one point called to the producer over to have his microphone taken off. Both felt they had shared way more than they have ever bargained for and wanted a moment between themselves. Even though their marriage may have been unconventional it seemed to have worked for them up to know. Ashley made it very clear that she no longer wanted anyone else in their bedroom. Ashley came out to the other women at Gizelle Bryant’s wine tasting even which left most of them speechless.
The couple has had their fair share of difficulties including age, culture, and numerous allegations of infidelity. But they recently announced that they were expecting a second child. Fans are hoping that the two can work out the kinks in their relationship. Some do not believe Michael will be able to change his sorted ways, but Ashely is still holding out hope. The beauty queen did tell cameras that if he doesn’t she has no problem leaving the marriage.
