Lazio have agreed on a salary and contract for Shkodran Mustafi as they look to bring the Arsenal defender back to Italy, according to a report.
Mustafi is reportedly one of several Gunners stars the club will let go of this transfer window in a bid to raise funds.
The 28-year-old has made 142 appearances for Arsenal since his 2016 move from Valencia. However, his influence has waned and he only made 15 Premier League outings last term.
Lazio are close to re-signing Wesley Hoedt from Southampton to bolster their defence but previous reports claimed the Serie A side were also preparing a bid for Mustafi.
According to Lazio Press, the latter deal has now advanced, with the key details of his move finalised. Mustafi has agreed on a contract and a salary and is keen to complete his move back to Italy.
The centre-back spent two years at Sampdoria before moving to Valencia.
The only hurdle that remains is to figure out what Mustafi will earn in bonuses during his time in Rome. The defender’s father and agent is masterminding the negotiations with Lazio.
Mustafi proved to be a key figure under former Arsenal head coach Unai Emery.
However Mikel Arteta has since welcomed William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes into his squad.
As such, Arsenal could sacrifice him in a bid to raise funds for more arrivals at The Emirates.
As well as Mustafi, Lucas Torreira and Sokratis Papastathopoulos could also leave before the October 5 transfer deadline.
Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar and Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey are top Gunners targets, reports claim.
Meanwhile, Ray Parlour has urged Arsenal to sign Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from Spurs in recent weeks, with Paris Saint-Germain supposedly interested.
However Thomas Tuchel’s side look to have retracted their interest and Parlour believes Arsenal should swoop in.
