Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access Has Been Delayed To October 6
The people who have gathered their party will have to wait a little longer before venturing forth, as the Early Access period for Baldur's Gate 3 has been pushed back a week. Baldur's Gate 3 has faced a number of delays since it was first announced, but Larian Studios recently revealed that the game would enter Early Access at the end of September.
The Early Access version of Baldur's Gate 3 will contain the first of three planned acts, which should offer plenty of content for people who want to check out the game early. It should be pointed out that the Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access will launch at full price, even though most Early Access games launch in a discounted state. There are many fans who have waited almost twenty years for a new Baldur's Gate game, so the price will be fine for some.
Larian initially announced that Baldur's Gate 3 will enter Early Access on September 30, but that is no longer the case. A new post on the Larian Twitter page has announced that the game has been pushed back to October 6. The game has faced a number of delays due to performance issues, which have also stalled the translations for different languages.
Baldur's Gate 3 also needs to be checked by something called the "World Tester", which is a program that plays through the game at a super-fast speed to check for performance issues. The intention of the World Tester is to make sure that the game is released in a satisfactory state. Larian has said in the past that Baldur's Gate 3 is bigger than Divinity: Original Sin 2, which is no small boast. If there is that much content in the game, even in a reduced state for Early Access, then it's not surprising that Baldur's Gate 3 needs a little more time in the oven.
Larian has confirmed that the Early Access for Baldur's Gate 3 isn't for everyone, as they are paying full price for an incomplete and unpolished experience. The Early Access period is important for the development of the game, and there are many fans who love Larian and are willing to help the company turn Baldur's Gate 3 into the experience they've waited years for. A week's delay is barely noticeable and considering all of the other high-profile delays of late, it's easily forgivable.
Baldur's Gate 3 will be available for Google Stadia and PC on October 6, 2020.
