White Sox at Reds, Game 2 - Preview and Lineup

Quite the pitching matchup today.

Another big win last night makes it six in a row for the Redlegs.

After sweeping a doubleheader with the Pirates yesterday, the Cardinals and Reds are now tied in the standings with .500 records. However, due to head to head record, the Cardinals own the tiebreaker (of course they do), so the Reds enter the day in the second wild card and final playoff spot.

This is going to change, a lot, in the next several days. The Giants also have a .500 record, but the Reds currently beat them out for a playoff spot due to intradivision record. The Phillies are only like a half a game ahead, the Brewers a half game behind.

It’s going to be wild down the stretch.

It doesn’t get easier for the Reds today, as they’ll face off with former Cy Young award winner Dallas Keuchel. Keuchel will be coming off the injured list for this one, having recently dealt with back spasms. His last start came on September 6 against the Royals. In 10 September innings pitched, he hasn’t allowed an earned run.

On the year, he’s pitched 53.1 innings of 2.19 ERA baseball (3.16 FIP). He’s not been a huge strikeout guy over his career, but he’s not really striking out anyone this year, all the way down to 5.4 per nine innings. However, he’s really limiting the hits and home runs, only giving up two of the latter. We’ll see if the Reds can fix that tonight.

Trevor Bauer will pitch for the Reds, while he tries to hand on to the league lead in, like, all the stats.
