Bahraini Crown Prince Sheikh Salman bin Hamad has volunteered for the island kingdom’s phase 3 clinical trials for a potential COVID-19 vaccine, according to a photo showing him taking a dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
According to the photo being shared on social media Crown Prince Sheikh Salman was photographed wearing a yellow face mask that read “we race as one” while receiving a dose from the potential vaccine.

“Today I was privileged to stand together with our vaccine volunteers, each one of them determined to play their part in working to protect others, not just at home in our Kingdom, but right across the globe,” said Crown Prince Sheikh Salman in a statement.
“This global crisis requires a global response. In Bahrain we are proud to say we have stepped forward and shouldered responsibility, first in sharing in treatment and testing best practice, and now in support of safe vaccine testing and development,” he added.
Bahrain is currently holding clinical Phase 3 trials of the 4Humanity campaign that is being run by Abu Dhabi-based G42 Healthcare in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Jordan.
The trials began in Abu Dhabi on July 16 and are being managed by G42 Healthcare in partnership with the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi, the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), and Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA).

Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Khalifa, Chairman of Bahrain’s Supreme Council of Health and head of the national task force against the coronavirus has stressed the importance of positive participation by citizens and residents in the third phase of trials for the coronavirus vaccine that is being supervised by the task force who are working closely with various authorities to address this pandemic according to the highest standards.
Al-Khalifa confirmed that more than 4,000 volunteers have signed up so far for the trials.
