Despite The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's delay, Disney+ has indicated Marvel's WandaVision is still on track to premiere later this year.
Marvel's WandaVision is still slated to premiere in 2020. Marvel fans were thrilled to learn the franchise will expand beyond the big screen by creating new shows for Disney+. Unlike previous Marvel shows, these will have greater ties to the movies, as many of them will actually star beloved characters who have already appeared in the franchise. WandaVision was first planned as the second of these MCU-set Disney+ shows, centering on Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) following the events of Avengers: Endgame.
However, like most pieces of 2020 entertainment, Marvel's Disney+ expansion has hit a few roadblocks. Production on the first three shows - The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki - were disrupted earlier this year by the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has been delayed. WandaVision was scheduled for release in December, but the postponing of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has, up until now, cast doubt on whether it would arrive on time.
Disney+ shared a new promo on social media highlighting the service's upcoming new content, and WandaVision was included among them. As Disney+ said, this is a glimpse of the "coming months," indicating WandaVision is still on track for release this year.
